Where have I been?
What I have seen?
Across the land and sea,
I’ve lived my dream,
Paris, Vienna, Tokyo, Rome,
The Louvre, Venice canal, the Palace of St. Jerome,
I've had the chance to discover the unknown,
The privilege of traveling the globe,
From boating in Hawaii to kayaking in Thailand,
To the streets of Louisiana,
Listening to a live jazz band,
Though all of the sites are beautiful and grand,
Nothing compares to the culture at hand,
The people, the food, and the weather all vary,
Some places are hot while others are airy,
However it’s not so much what I’ve looked at,
It’s what I have learned,
In other countries, your respect must be earned,
In Japan be polite, don’t be rude or outright,
In Spain, sleep in late and party at night,
In France, have a coffee and dessert after dinner,
In Greece, visit the water as it has a nice shimmer,
Talk and socialize,
Don’t be a typical tourist,
For it is when you immerse yourself,
That a country is at its purest.
